No. 95 – Purple loops

By | 21st June 2017

Welcome back to the Art of Crochet blog!

This is one of those squares that had me flummoxed for a while. It was all going okay until I got to round four. The pattern says to join the Purple yarn at any place and then to skip 2 stitches. This was one of my three attempts at this, but I kept ending up with the wrong number of loops.94 - 1

In order for the next round to work, you need 16 loops – four on each side – and I ended up with too few or too many. Contacting the designer put me right and her solution is this: Start off in the centre of one of the Mauve five-treble fans and make the next double-crochet into the dip in-between the fans, then another 2ch, dc in the centre of the next fan, and so on. Golly, it’s easy when you know how!

95 - 1

Watch out (spoiler alert) as there are triple-trebles in the fifth round! What a lot of excitement, now I think I need a cup of tea to recover! Here’s the film so you can see what to do in close-up.

Happy crocheting,
Katy x
